Leaders Merchant Services

Pros

It’s difficult to find a Leaders Merchant Services review that has much good to say about them. You’re more likely to find the Groupon merchant services phone number on a review page than a compliment. While it is standard for national or community merchant services to have more bad reviews than good, people had very few good things to say. They offer mobile processing, online reporting, cash advances, electronic check conversion, and equipment sales and leasing. They also offer a Premium Customer Care package, but that has issues of its own.

Cons

Leaders most frequent complaint is misleading sales strategies and hidden fees. Indeed, the Premium Customer Care option is something you are opted into by default when signing a contract unless you go out of your way to prevent it. Their other fees are also much higher than the industry norm, including a $120 PCI compliance fee, a PCI non-compliance fee, a monthly fee, and an annual fee, among others. Leaders also has fairly high early termination fees, up to $350. Their sales team is made of independent contractors who have some flexibility in the rates they set, which means it’s hard to get consistent data on rates, as well as difficult to ensure proper education and training for the sales reps. Finally, they are notorious for hiring individuals to post false positive reviews on consumer websites, which is a huge red flag, if not outright fraud. Finally, their website is horribly designed, and many customers say that they can’t even find the Leaders merchant services login.

Verdict

There’s no reason to sugarcoat it, you should look elsewhere for your merchant services, no matter what kind of business you have.
